Dear Norm:

Thank you for your family's valuable work you provided for the youth at the Texas Division Sam Davis Youth Camp in Clifton, Texas, and particularly for the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

It was a pleasure to meet you and your family at the Camp on the final day of the camp and I thank you for the complimentary CD's you provided me. They were excellent and I love your family's talent.

Best regards,

Our congregations were blessed by the music ministry of the Farnum family. They present a sincere, Biblical based message in an engaging manner. The congregation enjoyed each member of the family and their unique talents. It is a blessing to experience a family ministering together.

Dear Friends,

I want to recommend the Farnum Family to you. They sang for the Vinita Church of the Nazarene morning worship service (June 6th) and everyone gave glowing comments and remarks. More than one of our members stated, "That was as good as Branson."

I really must agree. The family is very talented, but the performance goes far beyond raw talent to a well rehearsed and well designed program. They have just the right balance of folk-instruments and traditional musical style, but in new and fresh arrangements. It was a worship service, not just a performance. The time passed quickly, and everyone was sad it was over.

We hope that the Farnum Family will have another tour through our area so we can have them again!

I also want to say that it is an honor to me that you would put my photos on your website and I thank you very much. And thank you even more that you put a link to my site also. You are very kind! I’ll email you to let you know when I get the CD and when I get all the pics from the competition up on my website in a gallery - about 80-100.

Thank you again. May you and your family be blessed by the Lord.

Hello Farnum Family!

Saw you at Silver Dollar City May 29th at the bluegrass competition and enjoyed your music. I do photography for a hobby and I got some nice photos of you during your performance. I was setting on the third row. Just thought you might like to have them to add to your collection.

Hope you like them. <We do!>

If you don’t have high speed internet <we do!>, you might be a little angry at me right now... Hope not... Sorry for the long download if you are on dial-up.

Norm:

Just wanted you to know that I received your cd's and played "Turkey in the Straw", "Battle of New Orleans" and "Blackberry Blossom". I want to thank you for promoting the old time, traditional music. This is the kind of music that is the backbone of our country and represents the morals that we all need to hold on to if our country has any chance to turn from the moral decline that we've seen for the past several decades. God Bless you in your music ministry.

If you have the chance to send a signed photo of your family group for my portfolio, I would much appreciate it. I will keep you updated on our audiences' response to your music.

Do you do church concerts? (Yes.) Would you like for me to check around on some possible dates in my area? (Yes, indeed!) There is also the big Poppy Mountain Bluegrass festival in Morehead, Kentucky every September.  (That would be nice!)

Thanks again.

Dear Farnum Family,

We would like to thank you for coming to the Crane Presbyterian Church. Your musical message was enthusiastic and uplifting for our congregation. I believe your family has accomplished a rather unique goal. You provided something for everyone. The instruments were varied, the style of music constantly changing and, of course, the vocals were wonderful. God has blessed your family with amazing talent. Thank you for sharing with us!

Hi Farnum Family,

I was in Norm's guitar class at the (O'Flaherty's) Irish Music Retreat last weekend (October 23-25), and while I was there I picked up copies of your CDs.  When I looked at the back of the "Folk Psalms" CD, I wasn't sure I would like it as I could think of lots of very tacky ways of putting the Psalms and folk tunes together!  But I have been working for the last 12 years on a different kind of musical project to help people learn the Psalms, so I was curious about what you had done.  And I found it very enjoyable--  I've listened to it three times already!  The arrangements are very well done, and your music complements the Psalms nicely.  The RPCNA Psalter is modern enough to be easy to understand (unlike some of the ones from the 1600's, which are getting a little challenging for 21st century English speakers!), but the changes of syntax necessary for setting the words into verse, provides just enough of an "old-fashioned" sound that it fits really well with the folk melodies.  I hope you'll consider doing some more of the Psalms in the future!  I think the CD would be enjoyable to a lot of the families that I know, so I'll be directing some other folks to your site.  Thank you so much for making the CD and sharing it with us!

Dear Farnum Family,

Thank y'all for making time for our schools in North Carolina.  In a world where prayer & God are being pushed out of the school systems, it was so uplifting to have even a little of God's word in song!

I am enjoying my CD - Folk Psalms - and look forward to your family's next visit.

Wishing your family many blessings as you continue to serve God through your music!

Hello All,

My name is Sarah Gleeson, you guys had played at my church today: Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church. I spoke with Daniel, telling him how wonderful you guys were. I absolutely loved your playing and your voices were amazing. You guys were awesome to say the least. I would love to stay in contact with you guys, just to see how your traveling is going and where your going next. I don't know if you have Facebook or not but I'm on there and it's a great way to keep in touch. Thank You so much for taking the time out of your lives to come and sing and worship the Lord with us. I hope you can do it again; it was very enjoyable.

How excited I was to accidentally find your web site. My name is April Gibson and normally live two blocks from the place you would have sung in Pleasant Hills, MO... at the Cass County Fair this year, but my house is the block behind the grandstand in the center of Pleasant Hill. I am so sorry I missed you, but the funniest thing is... I haven't been to church, the Oak Grove Bible Church for about a month. I was speaking to my mother-in-law, Marge Puckett... and she said I missed the best time at church. There was this wonderful family named the Farnum's who sang the most beautiful Bluegrass Gospel at church. First of all, Bluegrass is my favorite music and hearing gospel music adds to the delight. I just wanted you to know, somehow, by the grace of God your name was passed on one more time to the glory of the Lord. Hope to get to see you next time around, and I will be following your calendar in the future. Thank you for delighting the Oak Grove Bible Church and all the wonderful people in Pleasant Hill who heard the gospel through your wonderful singing.

God bless you,

Hi Norm & Trish:

Thanks for doing such a great job at the (Cass County Fair) Gospel Show and Bluegrass Festival! Everyone really enjoyed your performance. I personally had a great time and enjoyed everything you played. I really liked that you did the seldom-heard second (and 3rd & 4th) verse of “Grandfathers Clock” which is one of my favorite songs. Thanks also for playing along and being a good sport with all the banjo player jokes!  Thanks,

Bro. Norm,

Trust you and the family are well.  We'd like to get a few copies of the Homegrown Tomatoes CD to use as a give away during our semi-annual Operation WMSD (fundraiser).  Basically, we take a week and appeal to people to give us a call.  We are not asking for money, but folks usually give.  In return we like to have a gift of some sort to send them and I don't need to tell you that "Homegrown Tomatoes" has become a "hit" here on WMSD.  There have been a couple of requests for "An English Country Garden" as well.  Thanks and you folks keep on singing for the Lord and bringing us that great music.  I sure enjoy your banjo pickin'.

Dear Farnums,

Enclosed you will find two booklets I authored and I hope they will be a blessing to you.  These are a gift to you in appreciation for your music and your service to the Lord.  I am certain that in these days traveling is often taxing as you face gas, food and other things costing you more than you expected.

If I have learned anything in these 60-plus years it is that everyone has a talent or an ability given them of God, and He expects us to develop it and use it for Him.  I believe that is exactly what you folks are doing.  Keep on keepin' on for the Lord.  God bless you and we look forward to more music from the Farnums.

Hello Hannah,

I really enjoyed your Fiddle tunes!  I have heard other fiddlers over there (Snyder Park) but none of them played the old fashion tunes.  My husband learned to play music when he was about 10 or 12 years old.  He played the electric guitar -- also the acoustic guitar.  He never took lessons; he played by ear.

I hope you will enjoy the tape.  He played the fiddle, acoustic & electric guitar, then took it to a studio & had it put on one tape.  He also sang & played lead on the guitar.  He played for Senior Citizens & Nursing Homes.

Keep playing!

Yo, this is Roger over at Mountain Music Shop...  It’s got to be a real kick in the tail to have a bunch of kids...  and then all of a sudden you play instruments...  and then all of a sudden you got them playin’ instruments...  and then all of a sudden that stuff you made’s makin’ music with you!  That’s got to be kind of a cool thing!

Anyway, I listened to your album, dude, and I like it.  I kind of like the banjo playin’ on Battle of New Orleans...  it’s my favorite...  Blackberry Blossom is one of my favorite overall songs.  But I always like that Homegrown Tomatoes song.

It’s all pretty good.  It sounds all very 'family-bandy'.  And it’s got a certain charm to it.  It’s very Ozarks.  I like it.  That’s my review.  It’s good, so…  Bye!

The preceding telephone message was received after sharing our Tomato Pickin’ CD with our friend, Roger Garret, who owns and operates a local Branson music store...  We found it quite entertaining so thought we'd share it with y'all!

Hi Y’all,

Thanks so much for attending the Missouri League of the South meeting...  Your music was a blessing and most entertaining.  However, even more of a blessing to me personally was the testimony of your lives when not on the stage.  It was obvious that yours is a family that loves the Lord and each other.  You are a living witness as to what it means to be in the center of God’s will.

Thanks again for making the state meeting such a success.
